Thanks for joining us for the first edition. Let’s get started.
First up…
Escalation in the Middle East
The United States and Israel have launched extensive military strikes against Iran, asserting they aim to dismantle Tehran’s military infrastructure and reduce threats posed by Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. Iranian state media and U.S. officials both confirmed that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in the bombardment. Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases and Israeli targets across the Middle East, including Gulf states. Civilian casualties and global airspace disruptions have followed, prompting emergency United Nations sessions and urgent calls for diplomatic restraint.
🔴 Most Republicans and Trump allies portray the operation as a decisive act to protect U.S. security, arguing that removing Khamenei and degrading Iran’s capabilities was necessary to prevent nuclear proliferation and terror threats. GOP officials describe the campaign as “peace through strength” and defend continuing strikes until objectives are met.
🔵 Many Democrats express deep concern about the legality and scope of the strikes, questioning whether the president had proper congressional authorization and warning of a widening war. Some Democratic lawmakers have condemned the escalation and urged immediate congressional oversight.
So, what is the takeaway?
⚖️ Both sides can agree, that this is one of the most significant U.S. military escalations in years, with far-reaching geopolitical and economic consequences, from global oil and air travel disruptions to debates about constitutional war powers. A broader regional conflict remains a serious risk and with three confirmed United States military fatalities, this week will be consequential to how far this escalation will go.

FBI Raids and Leadership Shakeup in LA
Federal agents executed search warrants at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) headquarters and the home of Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, launching an ongoing federal investigation. Last week, Carvalho was placed on paid administrative leave as the Board of Education appointed an acting superintendent and awaits more details about the probe. No charges have been announced, and authorities are tight-lipped about the investigation’s focus.
🔴 Conservative commentators criticize public-sector leadership and call for full transparency, using the raid to argue for stricter accountability in school district contracts and federal oversight. Some suggest this reflects broader issues with bureaucratic governance in education.
🔵 Progressive voices emphasize due process and caution against political attacks on educators. Many Democrats urge patience while investigators determine whether misconduct occurred, and they defend public schooling from becoming a partisan target.
Where do we go from here?
⚖️ This is a developing story with limited publicly available facts. It highlights growing federal scrutiny of school district operations and contracts, especially involving technology vendors. But it’s too early to draw definitive conclusions about wrongdoing and we will provide timely updates.

Epstein Files: Hillary and Bill Clinton Testify Before Congress
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton have both appeared before the Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee as part of a broader investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein files. The controversial inquiry involves release of millions of pages of documents tied to Epstein’s network of associates and is aimed at examining how powerful figures may have been connected to the disgraced financier.
🔴 Many Republican leaders stress the importance of congressional oversight and question why the Clintons — whose names appear in the Epstein files released by the Department of Justice — resisted testifying for so long. GOP lawmakers say the testimony might help shed light on how Epstein fostered relationships with influential figures and potentially exposed systemic failures.
🔵 Democratic lawmakers and commentators largely frame the hearings as a politically motivated exercise, arguing that Democrats support transparency but oppose the implications that Clinton figures are culpable without evidence. Many call for similar testimony from others named in the files, including former President Donald Trump.
Now what?
⚖️ This development is historically significant. A former president being compelled to testify to Congress is unprecedented and underscores how the ongoing Epstein files revelations continue to reverberate politically. While neither Clinton has been accused of criminal wrongdoing, their testimony reflects broader debates over accountability, political motivations, and public trust in elite institutions
That’s it for now.
